Insight
Hospice Austin has been a pillar of compassion and dignity in Central Texas, providing unparalleled end-of-life care for decades. As Austin’s only nonprofit hospice, they serve everyone, regardless of financial situation, with a mission rooted in respect and comfort. When Hospice Austin approached us to collaborate on creating impactful visual content, the project felt deeply personal. Having experienced their care firsthand with two, close family members, we were honored to bring value to their mission and amplify their message.
Our Role
As photographers and strategic visual storytellers, we worked closely with Hospice Austin to:
Capture intimate and authentic moments that reflect the compassion of their care.
Create lasting visual memories for families, showcasing the dignity and love provided by Hospice Austin.
Support their website redesign project with compelling imagery that resonates with patients, families, and the broader community.
Idea
To bring Hospice Austin’s mission, “Your Comfort Is Our Calling,” to life through powerful imagery, we set out to:
Capture Emotional Connections: Showcase the heartfelt bonds between patients, families, and caregivers, reflecting the compassion at the core of hospice care.
Humanize the Mission: Highlight the faces behind Hospice Austin with warm, approachable headshots that convey the expertise and empathy of their team.
Illustrate Collaborative Culture: Document candid moments of teamwork and dedication to emphasize their organization's supportive, welcoming environment.
Showcase Serene Settings: Portray the tranquil and comforting spaces where care is provided, from Christopher House to in-home hospice settings, ensuring they feel inviting and peaceful.
Emphasize Dignity and Respect: Craft images that celebrate the individual dignity, warmth, and respect central to Hospice Austin’s values, creating visuals that inspire connection and trust.
Challenges Solved
This project required a deep level of sensitivity and coordination. Key challenges included:
Coordinating Sessions: Scheduling shoots with patients, families, and staff while respecting their time and needs.
Respecting Patient Privacy: Navigating sensitive circumstances with care, ensuring that all participants felt their dignity was preserved.
Making Patients Comfortable: Approaching each session with human dignity and empathy, especially during such a vulnerable time.
Because we had experienced hospice care with our own loved ones, we were able to approach these sessions with a unique understanding of the emotions and sensitivities involved. Our personal experience allowed us to build trust quickly, creating an environment where patients and families felt at ease.

Collaborative Planning
Partnered with Hospice Austin’s Communications Coordinator and creative team to align on a cohesive visual direction.
Designed a photography strategy that covered staff portraits, office culture, and patient-focused sessions.
Photography Sessions
Team Headshots: Captured professional yet inviting portraits of the Hospice Austin staff, ensuring their warmth and expertise shone through.
Office Culture: Photographed staff in collaborative and candid moments, emphasizing their dedication and compassion.
Family and Patient Photography: Conducted on-location sessions at homes, Christopher House, and nearby parks, focusing on authentic and heartfelt moments.
Tailored Editing and Delivery
Delivered polished headshots and culture photography for the new website, marketing materials, and internal use.
Provided expedited access to select family images to offer comfort during final days.
