How to Create a Killer Brand Presence with Copywriting & Photography
Wondering how you can go from just another brand to one that stands out from the crowd like Trader Joe’s, Apple, or even everyone’s fave, Target?
Well, we’re going to dive deep into what it takes to create a strong brand presence that connects and attracts your target audience today. But before we do that, we want to thank the Bryants for passing us the mic this week!
Birches Brand has partnered with the Bryants for two years now, and we can’t express our gratitude enough to these two! As one of our first clients, we’ve been through a lot together, and we’re dang proud of what we’ve created together over the years.
Alright, enough with the sap, because it’s time to move on to what you all came for: how to achieve a stronger brand presence.
What is a brand presence, and how is it different from brand awareness?
These two terms are often thrown around and used interchangeably, but they aren’t quite the same. Brand awareness is the king of fostering trust. It represents just how recognizable your brand is and how familiar your audience is with it.
Brand presence, on the other hand, is the thing that truly drives the brand loyalty we’re all looking for. It calls for showing up in our target audience’s lives in meaningful ways that stretch beyond typical marketing efforts.
A good way to think about it is this: Creating brand awareness and putting your business out there through effective marketing is only part of the job, but being present in a positive way that influences your audience to also feel positively around your brand takes the cake!
Take Trader Joe’s, for example. The company has created excellent brand awareness through its quirky labels, employees in Hawaiian-themed shirts, and affordable prices. But they have an even stronger brand presence that you can feel when you’re at Trader Joe’s or swiping through their social media that drives customer loyalty!
Their employees are famously kind and welcoming, their podcast is a great escape from reality, and no matter where the brand hangs out online, you already expect the company’s voice to be cheerful and neighborly, and valuable! Do you see the difference?
So, how do you do that? Let’s get into four strategies to implement as you work to build a strong brand presence:
1. Perfect your brand voice.
Every brand needs a voice that’s not only recognizable but it’s consistent and positive. I can’t think of any brand that speaks negatively to its audience and does well, so positive messaging that feels like your brand is the way to go!
Warning: don’t get caught up in trying to speak to everyone either. If your dream customer or client is a millennial who lives and breathes the Internet, then speak their language! For every one person that doesn’t vibe with your brand’s tone, there’ll be ten other people who can’t get enough of it.
Essentially, your brand voice should speak directly to your target consumer, be consistent across platforms, and have a positive influence on your audience.
2. Get creative and meet your audience where they are.
Building a strong brand presence is about being present, of course! So get out there, and hang out where your audience is! There are so many ways to connect and feel present in your customer’s life besides the usual social media or blog post.
If your audience seems like the type to listen to podcasts, then make one! Or maybe they’re the creative types, and they’d love a good physical zine. If I were you, I’d make a cool zine.
Here’s your push to think outside the box and figure out how to effectively create a valuable presence outside of the usual channels.
3. Amp up your visuals.
We live in a visual world, and if your brand photos need some upgrading—do it! It’s always easier to remember a face than a name, so give your audience a face or beautiful product photography shots to remember!
And just because it’s brand photography doesn’t mean it has to be stale. We want to connect with our audience here, so when you prepare for your next brand shoot, ask yourself how can the visuals positively connect with your audience?
4. Create a referral program.
Last but not least, who doesn’t love free goodies and reward points?!
If you already have a loyal consumer base, you can encourage them to lean into your brand more or share about it with referral programs. Figure out your incentives and then reach out to the clients or customers who are likely to refer your products or services! It’s a win-win for all!
Be consistent, and be you!
Building a strong brand presence involves getting creative and thinking of new ways to take up positive space in your target audience’s lives. We hope this blog post gave you an idea or two, so get out there and start building up your brand presence!
